Session & Speaker DetailsThey're the Same,...But Different - What Advisors Should Know About Oregon & Washington Pension Systems If you are a member of the OR/WA FPA for a while, you've probably attended at least one CE presentation about the Oregon PERS. But why hasn't equal time been given for the Washington retirement system? The day of reckoning is finally here! Kimberly Baker, CFP® and Patricia Spies, MBA, CFP®, of Johnson Bixby, will compare/contrast the two systems, share some fun facts about each, and highlight key components of plans that all advisors should be familiar with the better help their clients. Learning Objectives:
Meet your Speakers: Kimberly Baker, CFP®, if the Director of Financial Planning at Johnson Bixby. For more than 30 years, Kim has helped clients on both sides of the Columbia River navigate the complexities of Washington and Oregon Public Employee Retirement Systems. She applies her experience to provide analysis and tax strategies that support the individual needs of the wide array of participants in these plans, helping them plan for the retirement they envision. An enthusiastic problem solver who enjoys teaching others, Kim also works to improve financial literacy in the community and has held several officer positions with the FPA of Oregon & SW Washington. Patricia Spies, MBA, CFP®, is a Financial Planner specializing in pension and retirement planning, in addition to comprehensive financial planning, at Johnson Bixby. With a clear understanding of each client's unique financial situation, she develops a tailored path forward to help them feel confident they are making informed decisions. Prior to Johnson Bixby, Patricia worked in human resource at Oregon State University, where she learned the ins and outs of Oregon PERS. Patricia also volunteers her time and expertise to teach financial literacy through our partnership with Financial Beginnings, speaking to local high school students and other groups. Parking
Parking at the Hurley Building is limited. We offer complimentary 2-hour parking in front of the building, and there is street parking nearby. The lot west of the building is not open to the public. Parking here not only risks receiving a parking ticket but also takes away a spot for any employee working in the Hurley Building.
For guaranteed parking, we recommend parking at Park n Go Lot #18, which is near the Hilton and Esther Short Park. This parking garage is a short walk to our building. Thank you to our Sponsors!Platinum Sponsors
